Hermosa Beach, CA –
After clinching the Division 30 League Title and opening
the Champion’s Tournament with two straight wins, the
Hermosa Beach Soccer Club’s (www.HermosaBeachSoccerClub.com)
Division 30 team met with two weeks of difficult times.
However, after being downed in back-to-back matches,
HBSC rebounded to a 3-2 record with one game left in
round robin portion of the tournament.
“Those two
losses were definitely not expected. We lost four
matches in 22 games during the regular season. Losing
two games back-to-back is not something we have
experienced all year. It really puts us in a tough
position relative to moving on to the tournament
semi-final match,” said Jesse Torres, Club Founder and
Division 30 player. “We have to win the remaining round
robin match and then hope for some lucky outcomes in the
other matches.”
“I can’t
explain those two losses. We definitely brought the
stronger, quicker and more skilled team to both games.
We also dominated both games. We simply struggled to
close when it counted. Give all the credit to our
opponents – they never gave up and walked away with the
result,” said Brian Dragich, HBSC President. “This
definitely takes us out of the driver’s seat. But it’s
not over until the final whistle blows.”
The Hermosa
Beach Soccer Club’s final round robin match will be
played at the El Segundo Soccer Complex on June 1, 2008
at 8:00 am.
